The NWKC is the oldest kart club in Tasmania and one of the longest running clubs in Australia. We operate a bitumen sprint-kart track at Highclere, a few kilometers South of Burnie, on the North-West Coast of Tasmania. The track was first opened in 1966.

We aim to provide a safe and enjoyable venue for drivers, good, fun race meetings and a friendly environment in which to foster the sport of sprint karting.

The club is a not-for-profit Incorporated body, run by an Executive and a Committee. We meet once per month on the first Thursday, currently at the Highclere clubrooms at 7:30pm. Everyone is welcome at the meetings.

We run a four or five round club day series each year, where the emphasis is on fun and skills development. We also run four open race meetings each year. The open meetings focus on a group, such as the Rookies and Midgets in the Toy Kingdom Wynyard, "Little Legends" meeting.

The Highclere track is 770 metres in length.

At Highclere we normally cater for the following classes:
Midget, Rookies, Junior National, Junior Clubman, Senior National, Senior Clubman , TAG 125, Restricted TAG, Over 40s National, Over 40s Clubman, Open

Information on getting started with karting at our club can be found on this page.
The complex is maintained by the efforts of the members, with working bees held prior to the major race meetings and other times as necessary. If you would like to be involved in any way with the club we are always in need of people to contribute to the maintenance of the complex or running of the club with whatever skills you might be able to offer.
A membership Application form can be found here.
Many individuals and businesses provide support to this club in order for it to grow. Please have a look through this page of supporters and consider them next time you make a purchase. A list of Tasmanian Kart dealers is here.
