THE PIEMAN IS BACK

AKA Tasmania is pleased to announce that the "Phil Maney Pie Company" has come on board to be naming rights sponsor of the 50 years of karting celebrations. The event, to be held at the North Western Kart Club's Burnie circuit over the March long weekend will be known as the "Phil Maney Pie Company 50th Anniversary of Karting in Tasmania".
AKA Tasmania president Steph Peters was thrilled to have Phil, an ex karter, becoming involved in the sport which he had spent many of his younger years racing and supporting karting.
Karting is a sport that covers a wide age group with drivers ranging from 7 to 70 years and to be still as strong as ever after 50 years is a testament to the sport. Many of our past and current motorsport personalities came
from Tasmanian karting.
The support from the "Phil Maney Pie Company" will ensure that the event, that is attracting entries from as far away as WA and QLD will be a very enjoyable weekend that will culminate in a presentation dinner and social
event at the Dockers Clubrooms on the Sunday night.
Static displays and on track demonstrations of vintage karting equipment and machinery will play a large part of the race meeting over the course of the weekend. All classes on the day will run under a Masters theme as drivers 30
years and over will make up the individual groups also divided into weight categories.

Planned Social events will include a Meet & Greet on the Friday night and a Presentation / Informal Dinner on the Sunday night.
We are seeking people, information, photos, items, karts and anything else from the early days to now to display on the weekend.
Twins have enjoyed great popularity at times in Tasmania and the current resurgence is great to see.
The organisers would love to see 50 Twins on the track to celebrate 50 years!
So if you have one, or are thinking about one, now is the time to get it running.
Masters National and Masters Clubman will form rounds of the Tasmanian Masters Titles.
Support Classes will be Cadets, Rookies and TAG.
If you have information, please contact one of the following, or your local kart dealer.
Peter Fitzpatrick (Southern Kart Centre); Chris Wyatt (CJ Marine & Karts); Geoff Jacobs, Donald Wells (Burnie) or Steph Peters
