Don't forget our last meeting for the year, the Christmas Special Club Day on the 18th December. The Presidents' Challenge will be held again this year. The Presidents' Challenge is a one or two (or however many he feels like on the day) lap push-bike race around the track. It is open to all ages and I'm sure he'll find some appropriate prizes for various age-groups. So be sure to bring your bike! You will need shoes, full body cover, gloves and a helmet to enter.Your kart gear will do, but I can tell you from experience it gets pretty hot in a race suit! Notes from last nights meeting: There have been some slight mods to the Club Day and Inter-Club challenge dates, see the 2006 calendar. The club will be helping Santa provide gifts this year.

The final round of the Tasmanian Closed State Titles was run at Highclere on Sunday with some excellent racing. The Open Class karts made their first appearance at Highclere for many years. The big twins proving to be a handful on the tight Highclere track. Congratulations to all the 2005 Tasmanian Champions. Full results here.

The provisional entry lists for the Tall Timbers Hotel/Motel 2005 Tasmanian Sprint Kart Championships are now here. They are not completely finalised in regards to drivers as there are a few outstanding issues with some of the listed entries.

The Tall Timbers Hotel/Motel 2005 Tasmanian Sprint Kart Championships are to be held on the 22nd and 23rd of October at the Briant Park Raceway, Smithton. Information will be updated on this page as it comes to hand.

18 Sept
The Masport Cup has been run & won. Despite wet weather for Thursday, Friday and Saturday, the racing was excellent. The Pole Shuffle was a crowd favorite. Congratulations to Ben Walter for the win. He was the driver to catch all weekend. Zane Wyatt took out second place with Shane Bond third and Richard McLeod fourth. Stephen Swain was the 1st Heavy driver. The other winners on the day were from the Calcutta, where Adrian Harper, Steph Peters, Peter Fitzpatrick and Steve Sims were rewarded for their faith in the drivers. First place paid $626. Further to that, raffle ticket holders, Brett Williams, Peter Wagner, Steve Sims, Peter Fitzpatrick and Alan Harragon also scored a hansom return on their investments. Pictures are here. The supp-regs for the Tall Timbers Hotel/Motel 2005 Tasmanian Sprint Kart Championships are now available here. The Championships are to be held on the 22nd and 23rd of October at the Briant Park Raceway, Smithton. There is also a Pit Allocation form and a Practice form that you may need. Information will be updated on this page as it comes to hand.

It's on this weekend! Come along and be part of the Masport Cup. $5300 prize money! Racing starts from 12 noon Saturday with the first round of heats. Then come along to the King of Burnie Hotel on Saturday night for the Calcutta. Racers and spectators alike can bid on their favorite driver with the chance to win BIG. Or buy tickets for a chance to win a share! Racing resumes at 9:30am Sunday with the second round of heats. Along with the support classes finals, the feature Rotax class has a pre-final, Top 10 Pole Shuffle and the all important Final. Full details here. Click here for a map of how to get to the track at Highclere. Spectator entry is free on Saturday and $5 adults, $10 family and children free on Sunday.

The Masport Cup is getting bigger and better every day. Prize money now totals $5300! We now have a page of information including the Supp Regs and Entry Form here. There is a new mailing list available to subscribe to for Masport Cup 2005 information as well.

Steph has returned with news from the AKA Conference. He has outlined some of the changes here. These are from his notes, but the official releases should be out soon. Be sure to check this page as there's some great news for Tasmania there! Don't forget the next club general meeting is at Kart Central, Thursday 1st September. IMPORTANT - the format for next years Club day series WILL be decided at this meeting. Please formulate a complete proposal to present to the meeting if you have ideas.

Don't forget our club day this Sunday! There won't be a Come & Try day this Saturday though. Have a look at the Tiger Kart Club (WA) web site run by a former Wynyard guy & now "race Dad" who spotted our news item which was also on the Advocate web site on Thursday. They've got lots of great photos of the 2005 Nationals.

The Tasmanian MotorCycle Club are holding a Ride Day for Super Motard and Pocket Bikes on Sunday 21st August, so the track will be unavailable for private practice that day. They usually start around 11am, so go up and have a look if you are interested.

Thursday the 4th August is our next committee meeting and AGM. We need as many people as possible to come along and get involved. Help take the club to bigger and better things. Don't forget the request for proposals for next years club-day series from last meeting. The meeting will be at the King of Burnie Hotel.

We are in need of volunteers for Saturday 25th, for both the Come & Try day and for the clubs section of Rallye Burnie. If you can help with either event, please contact Steph Peters, by phone or e-mail president@nwkc.org.au
Sunday the 26th will see the running of round 3 of the NWKC Club Series. The Club Series is run as a series of handicap races with the emphasis on good fun, no 'sheep stations' involved.

Saturday, the 25th starting at 11am we will be holding another Come & Try Day. This is for members of the public to come to Highclere and have a run in a race kart, to see if they might like to join the sport. For more info click here.
