event for the year, the $5000 Masport Cup. This year we feature
the Tas Performance class with the ultra-powerful twins battling it out on the
tight Highclere circuit. The program also includes Round 1 of the Rotax series,

make sure you're there for tea and some entertainment!

The Highclere track has suffered some damage this past week, with a car leaving
the road and badly damaging several sections of the front fence. Several of
the fence posts have been torn out of the ground. Worse than that, someone has
crashed a car into the sail fence along the finish straight, badly damaging
it (picture). The two lots of damage appear unrelated. If anybody has any
information regarding the damage to finish straight safety fence, please contact
either Stephen Sims, Mark Close or Peter Wagner.
Suppregs are available now for the AJL Mechanical - Big Legends. The ARC A1 Evolution class is being offer for the Over 40's so either the Yamaha J or ARC A1 Evo motors can be used.

The Variety Club TASBASH had a stop
over at the Highclere track on Saturday the 22nd. Whilst they were there
the club provided lunch and held a come-and-try day for them as a fundraiser
for the Dumb & Dumber crew and the Variety Club. During the day lots of
the Tasbash entrants had a drive of the karts, with a few taking an immediate
shine to them and displaying some impressive driving skills. There were plenty
of other notable drives, although many related to the number of visits to the
wood chips! Like any good Tasbash event, there was plenty of scheming and skullduggery,
but above all lots of fun and laughter! The club would also like to thank the
CHKC for the loan of their karts, ensuring we had something to suit everybody.

Letter from the President
A BIG thank you to all the people involved in the pre-event organisation and
running of the Tongs Sheetmetal Club Titles held at the Hardings Hotmix Kartway
on the 18th of this month.
With our complex in a state of disarray or organized chaos, whichever the case
maybe, I was extremely proud of all of you in the way you went about your business
and contributed to the success of the event. Well Done. The effort to place
70 cubic metres of woodchips in record time was amazing and the amount of people
who hung around to help pack up after a long day of racing and presentations
was extremely pleasing. A big special thanks to Mark Johnstone for the cartage
of the woodchips and of course without Gunns there would be no woodchips. So
to everyone concerned, thank you very much.
VALE: SHAUN RADFORD
It is with heavy heart that I inform our members and karters statewide
of the tragic and untimely passing of Shaun Radford. Shaun was involved in a
fatal car accident on Friday evening in atrocious weather conditions while traveling
to Launceston.
Shaun, brother Nathan and parents Glenn and Karyn have been long time members
of the North Western Kart Club and have been very active over many years from
competition on the track, work and maintenance at the complex and working in
the canteen.
We watched Shaun grow from that first time Midget driver into a highly competitive
Junior and always heard of his skills and prowess in his other love of Football.
The Club's sincere condolences are with Glenn, Karyn, Nathan and families. Shaun
will be sadly missed.
